The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) is amongst the top ten marathons in the world and has assumed a stature of eminence of being the single largest philanthropic sporting event in India. Over the last five years of its participation, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care (SRLC) has raised over Rs. 6.25 crores for its charitable causes. SRLC's participation in SCMM 2016 was to support higher education for less privileged tribal students by setting up a new science college in Dharampur, named Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth (SRV). The 'Charity Awards Nite' was held on 22nd April at The Trident Hotel, Mumbai. The event was attended by His Excellency Shri Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao - Honourable Governor of Maharashtra; Shri Swadhin Kshatriya - Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra; John Abraham - Film Actor and Face of the event; Tara Sharma - Film Actor amongst others.
With the grace of Param Krupalu Dev Shrimad Rajchadraji and blessings of Pujya Gurudevshri, SRLC was honoured with the following awards for the 2016 edition:
Highest Fundraising NGO
Amongst the 286 participating NGOs, SRLC raised over Rs. 2.56 crores, becoming the Highest Fundraising NGO for the sixth consecutive year, which is a feat in itself.
NGO supported by Largest Number of Corporate Teams
Amongst the 157 corporates that participated in SCMM to support NGOs of their choice, SRLC had the largest support of 22 corporate teams, which reinforces the faith that corporates have in SRLC's social initiatives and execution capabilities.
NGO supported by Largest Number of Young Leaders
Young Leader is a category of fundraisers aged between 12 to 21 years raising a minimum of Rs. 50,000. SRLC had the enthusiastic support of 34 such passionate Young Leaders who raised around Rs. 56 lakhs for the SRLC cause.
Highest Fundraiser Family
The Jasani family, comprising of Vanprastha Abhaybhai Jasani, Premarpit Mridulaben Jasani and their grandchildren Samarpits Shiv and Mayra Jasani won the award for raising more than Rs. 50 lakhs as a family.
Highest Fundraising Young Leader
Yuvarpit Meera Mehta had the distinction of becoming the Highest Fundraising Young Leader, individually raising more than Rs. 10 lakhs.
SRLC also had the distinction of having the highest number of fundraisers for a single NGO.
