Despite rapid economic progress, a disturbingly large percentage of India suffers from illiteracy. By giving them a smile, we may make their day, by giving them food and shelter, their basic needs may be taken care of, but a gift of education will provide them with stability, a life of dignity and financial independence.
SRLC has already undertaken various empowerment activities for the underprivileged children in rural Gujarat due to which, over 400,000 school children benefit annually. These include a rural residential elementary school, secondary and high school, education outreach program, providing interest-free loans and scholarships for higher education. Over $1million worth of stationery items have been distributed at subsidized rates. And now, a new science college has started, promising to fulfill the dreams of those bright tribal students.

Sanjay Parmar's father suffered a crippling paralytic attack that left him bed-ridden and unable to work or earn for his family. Sanjay's mother and brother started working in the farms, but their meagre wages too couldn’t sustain the family. While Sanjay wanted to pursue further studies in the field of science, the high cost of private schools kept him away and there were no public schools in the vicinity.
Shrimad Rajchandra Gurukul gave him the opportunity of a lifetime! He studied there in standards 11 and 12 and secured admission in a university to study mechanical engineering.
“In the immensely inaccessible areas of Dharampur, Kaprada and Dang, the underprivileged are being offered healthcare services not only through Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital, but even through its outreach services. For this, the Gujarat Government is indebted to them. For improving the Human Development Index of the State, by providing these types of healthcare services to people from the remotest of areas, I am thankful to Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital.”
There are several children in the remote areas of Dharampur and its surroundings who still lack access to a comprehensive system of education. Many rural schools do not have adequate facilities or resources for delivering quality education with advanced learning methods. SRLC launched Shrimad Rajchandra Education on Wheels to make quality education accessible to the rural students by imparting quality education through a van. The van is specially designed to include a library, science laboratory kits, audio visual equipment and a projector for supporting e-learning in classrooms as well as vocational tools for promoting vocational training amongst students.
Shrimad Rajchandra Education on Wheels will cover large distances to bring quality education to the schools in remote areas. Our van will visit around 20 schools in a week, with specialized teachers supporting students in academics. In rural areas which lack trained teachers or facilities, the van will provide coaching classes in English, Mathematics and Science to aid the students in overcoming their difficulties. The van is uniquely equipped with vocational tools and machines to provide training covering areas like mechanical tools, electrical, home and health and agriculture. Teachers will also impart value based education to ensure the holistic development of children. Shrimad Rajchandra Education on Wheels will drive a change in the quality of education in the rural schools and provide fillip to the aspirations of students.
